The calculations provided are based on the Spousal Support Advisory Guidelines which may be followed, or adjusted, by a judge.

Please note that there is some legal debate as to whether the Spousal Support Advisory Guidelines are the hard and fast rules that a judge must follow. Therefore, in providing you with the calculations understand that the numbers may not be be the final determination or accurate assessment of what your spousal support obligation/entitlement will amount to. The numbers provided will simply be amounts as set out by the Spousal Support Advisory Guidelines.

This product is less helpful for individuals who have complicated financial situations such as shareholders, or directors of a company as in many cases the court will apply a different value than what is set out in the Spousal Support Advisory Guidelines.
